Jim,

Abusive behavior is one thing - and there certainly is a fair bit of it here
- but slander is another. Since the mail list archives are (I assume)
available to you, try providing some evidence of slander against other
agencies by anyone. If someone says 'TDI requires X hours to practice Task
Y, and therefore they suck' whereas in truth it was Z hours, you may have a
point, otherwise - no. I have yet to see a clear case of misrepresentation
of an agencies' policies that went uncorrected immediately.

I agree that abusive behavior may turn people off to DIR if they are
casually inquisitive, but if you listen to what is said here, it is often
educational and correct. I also have seen some of the 'bad' from the other
agencies, even with my limited experience, though I wouldn't assume an
instructor to be 'bad' simply by being from agency X.

(P.S. - I am not one of the 'dwarfs', nor am I an attorney - I am a fairly
new diver who has been listening and learning. I am not even completely DIR
at this point, though evolving slowly.)
