Rich, I think you missed my point. Let's try this again from the top. All tanks always need to be completely clean, and obviously that means we should only fill from known clean gas sources. I didn't mean to imply that you don't do this. If it makes you feel good to follow some sort of extra oxygen cleaning ritual and slap a sticker on it then go ahead, but it doesn't change what is actually in the tank. All that aside, there are plenty of divers who get fills from dirty compressors and then blow high oxygen mixes in them later. Bad practice perhaps, but if it was really dangerous as some would have us think then there would not be a dive shop left standing. Personally I am more concerned with getting injured due to breathing contaminated gas because, unlike tank fires, that actually kills a few divers every year. I suggested you refer to Trey's previous posts on the subject because he has more practical knowledge in this area than any of us.
