Paul, Since Trey is off to Mexico, let me venture a couple of reasons, in the traditional bakers dozen format : 1.Neoprene drysuits compress with depth making them buoyant on the surface and paper thin on the bottom. Youll need extra weight to sink them which then becomes a liability on the bottom when the suit is paper thin, and now you work harder at depth hauling around that extra weight, taking on extra n2 and co2, when you need it least. 2.Consider that the neo suits main advantage is its built in thermal protection, which disappears at depth when the suit compesses. Now you need extra insulation inside the generally tight fitting neo suit. 3. the neo suit is generally cheaper to buy, but only because its cheaper to make and made more cheaply. 4. the suit restricts access to the valves on a double rig. 5. the suit restricts movement in general making it harder to swim 6. the boot sizes are absurd, necessitating huge fins, 7. the zipper will either be positioned so as to require help while donning, or be twice as long as necessary 8. the inlet valve is often a non standard size, which makes it difficult to borrow a shot of air when needed in the event of an inflation gas supply failure 9. the neck seal < if neo> will have a tendancy to balloon uncomfortably, cutting off circulation to the brain and making it difficult to pump the suit full at depth 10. the entire suit will suffer damage on each dive, gradually rendering it use less from a thermal standpoint, and weakening the material each time it is used 11. the suit material is vunerable to chemical contaminates 12. wearing the suit is another sign that the wearer has not fully considered the consequences of his actions < ie that inhaling seawater may be fatal> and may be a stroke 13. once you have had one of these and then had a proper dry suit you will know the difference and act accordingly regards, Al Marvelli Paul Wright wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Trey <trey@ne*.co*> > > Only somebody who does not know > > any better dives a neopreme dryuit of any kind. > > A serious question, Why no neoprene drysuits? > > Paul > > -- > Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. > Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
