Rob, The size is 3/4-14 ngs. To re-tap (enlarge) the threads in the neck of a tank will (I believe) violate the integrity of the neck (makes it thinner) and would cause it to be condemed. I have seen a 3/4" valve re-cut as a 1/2" taper to fit an older steel tank. Why do either when you can buy steel 72's in hydro and in vip for $50 a pop.
