I will try to use words that have no more than four syllables: When you participate in your hypothetical wall dive that bottoms out at 14,000' you are implicitly accepting that any situation that results in an uncontrolled descent will be fatal. It DOES NOT follow that you would want to accept the same risk for a dive such as the Hydro Atlantic. In the case of the Hydro Atlantic, such risk is neither necessary or warranted. Unavoidable risk for one type of dive does not mean that type of risk should be ignored for all types of dive.
