We have something in Hawaii and elsewhere in the Pacific called "Justitia longimanus" (I'm a fish nerd, not a crustacean nerd, so I may be off on the spelling). Its a smallish, very slender lobster that is redish with white markings, and has two long thin claws. In Hawaii, we usually don't see it until about 160' or so (sometimes shallower). I've seen the spineys down at least as far as about 380 or 400, and they may go deeper. I don't know what all you have out in your "excuse for an Ocean" ;-) so there may be other creepy crawlies that you are seeing. However, it would require that I crack a book to fins out. There is a really goos one (book) about lobsters in your region, written by Martin Moe. Let me know if you want the reference. Aloha, Rich
