You known Ronnie, I was thinking the exact same thing. I also look at the
diagram and saw nothing special.

I find the term 'preference' funny. I me, this should often be called
'adaptation'. Adaptation to diving environment, conditions, etc... Not all
divers are diving big caves on scooter at 285 feet.

I was fortunate enough to take technical courses with three instructors. I
also observed a few more working. To my knowledge, not all options are
being presented. However, it was very interesting to see different
approachs and understand why each one was doing things a certain way. I
would suggest to anyone to do the same things as I did (having more than one
instructor).

Recently, I got in touch with a newly certified cave and mixed gas diver.
He was trained by a very respected instructor. This individual did not know
how to setup a stage, what valves to put on tanks and which reel to bring
for a cave dive. It seems that the basics in equipment configuration are
not always well covered.

The harness setup is very well described in the 'Doing it Right' video. I
suggest that people buy the video... at least they will not understand only
the 'how', but the 'why'.
