Subject: new ScubaPro regs?
Was at the boat show this weekend and saw some brochures for new
ScubaPro regs. There was something called the G500 second stage that
looks like a cross between a G250 and a US Divers Micra but with a large
adjustment knob on the side.

Then they had two new versions of the MK20. There is a Ninja version in
all black which is supposed to be ultralight. The guy couldn't explain
to me why it's important or necessary to pay a premium to shave precious
ounces off a 1st stage, especially as you'll just be putting them back
someplace else like your weightbelt.

There was also a new nitrox dedicated MK20 that looked like a mess.
Sort of an inverted DIN design that won't work on any existing tank,
including any scubapro tank on the market.

Anyway, has anyone out there tried this new G500 2nd stage? What do you
think? Also, what's the deal with this new nitrox-dedicated nonsense?
Is this some scheme by the dive industry to try and sell more tanks and
regulators? Is there some master plan to try and regulate-out nitrox
fills into regular DIN or yoke tanks? I will really fly off the handle
if someone tells me some day that I can't get a fill because I don't
have the correct *nitrox* tank valve.
