Ahhh, you are wrong. On the Eureka I found a childs blue marble, a
boomer, with silver flecks in it. I have it swinging from my rear view
mirror. I often wonder if the child was on the ship when it went down. On
the same wreck I brought up a perfect crystal from a chandelier which was
exposed by a scooter blasting a hole in the sand. On the Benson I found a
complete brass door lock and a molten piece of brass which appeared to be
the handle a sextent. On the Monroe I found a piece of copper commutator
from ships generator, you can see a circular mark where the brush arched
on it. Is this were the shaft seized when the ship was struck in the
collision? On the Marine Electric I found the tip of a starboard running
light lens. Was this the last thing to slip under the waves? On the
Morgan a found an annular ring from a 40mm antiaircraft shell with "1942"
stamped on it. Would this shell have shot down a plane if the ship had
not exploded and sunk before it's vital cargo made it to europe? On the
Powell I found the handle of a dinner knife, was it from the Captians
set? And many more.

Sound like a bunch of junk, does it not? Well, it's gold to me, each with
a memory of a great dive trip and comradeship with fellow divers. And a
token of respect for the wreck, as holding each memento brings back
memories of the ships mystery and grandeur. Not many people do this sort
of thing, and it is fun to have proof of a visit to places most folks
can't or won't go.
