Just watched the Britannic show -wished they'd shown more ship and less talking heads on the surface, but still fun. Everytime I see one of these Ballard shows, I find myself wondering just how he pulls it off. I mean, none of these ships are really of great archeological value - Titanic has a lot of newsvalue and popular interest, but it's not like there's great scientific value in studying it - Lusitania and Britannic have just about none, being easily in reach of conventional dive gear, and dove many, many times, and even by sportdivers. So visiting them is really more in the line of fun than vital scientific research, however entertaining. So how does Ballard get to play with expensive US gov - first NOAA and now apparently Navy - gear to go after these things, so he can write books and sell TV specials? Using a nuclear sub with 3000"+ capacity to check out a 350' deep wreck is a bit overkill. Wonder what it cost the taxpayers? Not to sound too suspicious or critical, just curious. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Please send messages for the WreckDiver list to: wreckdiver@wreckdiver.com Send subscription and help requests to: wreckdiver-request@wreckdiver.com +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
