the best thing to do is travel light until you have a specific project in
mind. just have a small sledge hammer and little 18" crowbar on your
weight belt as part of your weight. the little crow bar can act as a
chisel (ideal for doria shuffle board numbers) and you can do some prying
with it, they won't get caught too much, you can use the crook in the
little crow bar to reach objects just out of arms length too, carry the
lift bags and reels of course. i have found my self in the annoying
position of having no tools and finding a nice porthole complete with
storm cover on the tarantula. i was spear fishing and looking for lobster
( having no luck) and came across the porthole. i had to go rummaging
threw the wreck to find a hunk of steel to hammer with and used an akward
length of pipe and finally got it but it took me for ever, i brused and
cut my hands, and i had a long decompression, the other captain, hank
garvin was getting very impatient waiting for his turn to dive. if i
would make it a habit to dive with a couple of tools i wouldn't have
these problems, but i still neglect to because i don't want to be
bothered with the drag and catching on stuff and the weight belt is a
menace on the boat with the crow bar clipped to it and the tools get the
boat decks rusty.once you have a major project in mind you can pack up
one of those canvas or nylon bags like shortened bug bags with a zipper
pouch known as tool bags . try to make it so you can easly ditch the
whole thing if you have to, some guys leave the tools at the site untill
the project is done. i wouldnt like to drag one around every dive.
