To everone who suggests returning to the bottom to search for the loved one: What, exactly, do you intend to accomplish by going back down? The third person is unconscious, so obviously something major happened. Both divers are experienced, so they likely tried to solve their problem in some way if they were together at the time. At least one of them went unconscious. I would say there are really only two possibilities: the missing person is dead on the bottom, or the missing person is alive and downcurrent either on the surface or decompressing. Regardless of which of these is the case, I see little or no value in returning to the bottom, no matter how emotionally tempting that might be. If the missing diver was on a fully-closed circuit rebreather and went hypoxic, I can see some possibility that the diver could be saved. But if the diver was on OC scuba, the above two options are really the only plausible ones. Returning to the bottom will not help.
