Subject: Re: HUMANITY CHECK

HI John,

Please tell me that isn't based on a real story that happened to you
recently. My answer: I honestly don't know what I'd do, because to know
what I'd do, I'd have to be as terrified as I would be in the situation
you just described. I have been nearly that terrified (close friends not
returning to the decompression line when they should), and I know that my
thought processes are not the same in those situations as they are when I'm
sitting at my computer in the safety of my office. If I were rational,
I'd probably blow-off the rest of my deco, drag the unconscious person
into the boat, try to revive him/her and ask what the hell happened, and
scan the horizon downcurrent to look for any signs of another diver. I
doubt I would be that rational if the missing diver was my wife or
daughter, however.

Aloha,
Rich
