Din valve provide a much more solid attachment > point for a regulator. A year ago I was curious about the Yoke-vs-DIN debate. I called every dive shop in town and asked which they felt was better, yoke attachment (A-Clamp for you anal types) or DIN. All the shops except 1 said DIN. I then asked them the question of how many instances of a DIN first stage being sheared off the valve have they heard of. They all had heard of a then recent incident where a DIN first stage had been sheared. I then asked them how many instances of a Yoke attachment coming off a valve have they heard of. Not a single one of them had heard of such an incident. I don't buy into the DIN is a better attachment theory. Yes, you have a captured O-Ring, but you still have an O-Ring. Also, what would happen if you accidently drop your first stage on a rocking boat and mush up the threads a bit? Just curious.
