I used to dive the wrecks off of New York, occasionally, and I saw at least two people diving 50-50 as a bailout gas on deeper wrecks. I asked them what they were doing, and they gave me the above story. They claimed ANDI certification. The risks of having an entanglement or being in another overhead/pseudo-overhead environment did not enter their risk/benefit analysis. They presented the same story given before: It would be used for bailout and you would start up immediately upon drawing the first breath of 50-50, and could also be used as a deco gas.
