Tom,
The primary problem will involve choosing a format that only a few people
will be able to use.  If the diagrams are going to be of a stick type nature
I would suggest using something very basic and ubiquitous such as Paintbrush
by Microsoft as it is bundled with Windows.  Unfortunately, Netcom's e-mail
program will not allow you to attach different file types to your e-mail
(last version that I saw).  If you need assistance on posting that info let
me know.
