My wife has decided that we need a Video Camera after all; I know I want Hi8 format, but I don't know what features are needed and best for underwater video (the use I'll put it to). Help and advice need in this regard asap before she insists I buy the video camera. Harold Gartner hgartner@ra*.or* CompuServe ID 71470,1423 6900 Via Alba Camarillo, California 805 482-9743 Harold, I was recently diving in Monterey, CA, and found a UW camera/video store called Backscatter there. Their address & phone # is: 32 Cannery Row Monterey, CA 93940 (408) 645-1082 I strongly recommend you call them to discuss your needs.....they rent equipment, have a demo program, and the guy was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He carries several lines of UW dvideo housings, including an interesting line made by Light & Motion Industries......all controls are magnetic, no penetrations through the housing.......large, easy to use controls....and double or triple O rings at the front and back end of the extruded aluminum housing... Made the Ikelite housings look like real dinosaurs...... The housings are made to work with the Sony TR series camera, and he recommended the Hi-8 if you're going to be doing any editing......Also have units for Ricoh and Nikon... The manufacturer, Light & Motion industries can be reached by e-mail at LMIVideo@AO*.co*. Backscatter is not yet on line, but will be soon. Sorry if this sounded like a commercial, but I was really impressed......It was closing time on a Sunday evening, and the guy let me take all the time I wanted to ask questions and gather info.......
