>My wife has decided that we need a Video Camera after all; I know I want >Hi8 format, but I don't know what features are needed and best for >underwater video (the use I'll put it to). Help and advice need in this >regard asap before she insists I buy the video camera. I personnal use a Sony TR305 Video 8 in a Sony housing which produces=20 some pretty good results. The lower the lux capability the better. The best shots I've seen came from the top of the range Sony camera, the 3CCD one that costs about =A32,000 GBP. This is a semi-pro Hi8 with everything on it. However, the chap who owned said he hardly used on the functions on it and just stayed with the basics. What ever camera you get, make sure the housing has electronic controls=20 which connect via a lead inside the housing to the remote control port on the camera. This allows you to make use of zoom/wide, on/off, auto or manual focus and on some, white balance. Most shots are taken on the widest angle, on auto focus and just taking the time to get close to your subject. You'll also need a wide angle lens and a blue water filter to correct the colour. Lights are up to you, depending on what you intend to film, however in warm clear water, I find you don't need them. Hope this is of use :-) Mike Mike Holmes Crawley BSAC 0148 mike-h@di*.co*.uk* =20 Work Tel: 0171 382 4154 Work Fax: 0171 382 4777
