Hi All, You may remember the thread of a few weeks ago. It divided us up into two groups: Those who thought that the technical diving instructors were a bunch of blood sucking vapires, intent on draining us of all material wealth. The kind of people who whould sell their maternal grandmother for pet food. And those who maintained that the instructors were noble folk, who at great personal risk, spread the holy word of tech diving, asking only enough in return to buy their starving children a tiny bit of pet food. A few weeks ago Rodney asked a question in order to sort out just what was going on. He proposed that there were people who would simply *never* be able to undertake mixed gas diving with any degree of safety. Given that point, there should be cases where an instructor has been given money by a student, one who simply isn't up to the task. So Rodney asked (as I remember it): Are there any instructors out there who have refused to certify a student, after the fee has been paid? So far no-one has replied, which is rather making it look like they are a bunch of vampires. Now even though I have said some tough things about our instructor folk, I suspect that they may just be lazy (or busy). So how about it. Prove that you are infact great guys and post details of how you recognised the lack of that 'something' in one of your students, and gave them their money back. We don't need names of course, but your reasoning may be interesting for us who have to rely on self evaluation. Cheers Jason :)
