Hey Scott,
The idea of having a three piece system is that the threaded porion
sliding on the o-ring shaft, exerts no "screwing" force upon the mating
surfaces of the o-ring or the din sealing "bed".

With a one piece system, when the o-ring mates to the sealing surface within
the DIN valve, this causes the o-ring to be repeatedly screwed in and out
with the pressure of the sealing process (although minimal) this
theoretically could cause the o-ring to wear prematurely and even possibly
bind with excessive corrosion...

I realize you have never had an issue with electrolytic corrosion, which is
comforting to know that it obviously really isn't a problem for you.(maybe
in salt water this could become an issue with individuals who don't tend to
rinse their equipment) :-) , but just like placing the bungee over your head
when you think you are going to tox , "it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling"

I was unsatisfied by the standard plastic items available within the local
diving industry and therefore decided to do something about it and set a new
precedent of quality ,whereas before there was none...

I am just supplying the best product I can think of to do the job, as down
here in NZ as we don't have the luxury of going to the local hardware
store...everything like needs to be custom made.

Warm regards

If these are three piece chrome plated brass plugs I can buy them in the
plumbing section of Reynolds hardware for $2.69. Only about 1mm off size,
but they work for those that want that route. I use solid SS, have 19 of
them, no problems, dissimilar metal corrosion has not been an issue. Save
hundreds in gas leaks. If solid works and is simplest, why would I be
interested in a three piece contraption?
