What we have done in the past is if you arrange it ahead of time we will
loan you a set of gear for the class.  We tell everyone that they should use
whatever gear they own for the class, but it will quickly become obvious
that the recommended gear configuration is the most efficient, and you'll
likely wind up with the gear anyway.

If you have specific questions about what gear or why, just e-mail me and
I'll go over it line by line..
