Hi. Congratulations on going DIR, it's the best system out there by
far. I've taken Fundamentals and Tech 1, and here is what I would do.

Go and get a Halcyon backplate, harness and a wing. I don't know
what the Alading Air Z nitrox is, but as long as it's a regulator it
will work. Any kind of AIR2 nonsense won't. You should also try to
set up your regulators, at the minimum get a 7 foot hose for your
primary, so that you can do Air sharing drills. That's the most
important. The rest will probably "work" for the fund. class. Make
sure you have "straight" fins, no split fins, or you won't be able to
do the right kicks and learn them. If you have to buy fins, get the
scubapro jet fins, and if you have huge feet and the XL don't fit
then get Turtle fins.

You can get lots of good info from some other sources, such as
WKPP.org, Quest.com, and of course, the best thing to do is to
subscribe to the quest mailing list, instead of dealing with the
mutants on techdiver ;-)

You can also call your Fund. instructor and ask him, instead of
relying on email advice. That should probably be your first step.
Even if you plan on taking the class "in the future", and don't know
who your instructor will be, call the guy who will most likely be
your instructor, and he'll help you get the basics so you can get
comfortable before the class.
