Hello all, I'm a rec diver who is pretty sure that DIR is the way to move forward. I will probably sign up for a DIR fundementals class soon. I have about 150 dives in a variety of environments but with strictly rec. type gear. I would like to get DIR gear for the class but I'm unsure about exactly what to get. I've read all I could find and talked to a couple of cave divers but sometimes get conflicting advice. I think my best option is to take the fundementals course with my current equipment and go through what I should have with the instructor. My question is: Is it OK to go through the DIRF class with my 'silly' rec gear or should I pre-buy what I have gleaned to be the right tech gear? I don't want to buy stuff that isn't right and shouldn't be used. What do ya'll think? FYI: current rec gear is: Scubapro mk20 w/S600 Zeagle Ranger BC Mobby's tri-lam self-donning drysuit and Weezle undergarmets Aladin Air-Z nitrox ( I know.... ) Suunto Mosquito and other stuff I'm embarrased to mention.... -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
