David, the only benefit of deco programs is so you can dive on your computer
at home and learn from it. Then you have to apply the rules I talked about,
and then you have to use the logic . You will never need a written table or
an in-water computer. I have neither for any dive I do, and now don't even
look at the home computer to figure out a dive.

GUE teaches people to do that, I thought you took a GUE course?

What is a bottom planner? Is that like a topo map?

  Subject: Decoplanner for recreational

  Hi everyone,

I have given up the use of a dive computer and have reverted to a bottom
planner. Several friends of mine are using software to generate their own
tables. These friends do dive a little more aggressively than I am trained
to do right now as they sometimes dive with Trimix and I am unable to at
this time.

My question is, since I am basic Nitrox qualified, would I see any benefit
of using software like Decoplanner over the standard tables that I have from
NAUI? Air or Nitrox specifically. My friends have 1 minute decos planned
into their tables for dives that would be generally considered no deco
dives. I understand that stops in general are usually beneficial, but I
would like to see them in table format and be able to copy them into
wetnotes.

In short, can a software program like DecoPlanner benefit the every day
recreational diver that occasionally goes deeper than say 60 feet for
example.

  Thank you,

  D Burnworth
