As for the dive computers, I had an incident happen to me with = one that made me realize how reliant I was on it. Since that dive I = have been using a bottom timer (not bottom planner, typo.) Any way, I = see now that using the tables and applying what you have already talked = about is the key to successful diving. Right now, I think I am having = trouble grasping the concepts because of too many sources of varying = information. I did take the DIR-F course already and have learned quite a bit. We = just barely touched on deco stuff and breathing mixtures. I had already = started using the bottom timer before the class. I plan to go with = GUE's teaching's because I have "seen the light." I will take the Tech = 1 when I can afford to. =20 Right now I feel like I have enough information to be dangerous to = myself, but not enough to be safe, safe being the goal. I am not ready = for deco diving but am trying to prepare myself for that to come soon as = a normal dive profile. Several friends of mine are using software to generate = their own tables. These friends do dive a little more aggressively than = I am trained to do right now as they sometimes dive with Trimix and I am = unable to at this time. My question is, since I am basic Nitrox qualified, would I see any = benefit of using software like Decoplanner over the standard tables that = I have from NAUI? Air or Nitrox specifically. My friends have 1 minute = decos planned into their tables for dives that would be generally = considered no deco dives. I understand that stops in general are = usually beneficial, but I would like to see them in table format and be = able to copy them into wetnotes. In short, can a software program like DecoPlanner benefit the every = day recreational diver that occasionally goes deeper than say 60 feet = for example.
