Terry, first, you don't even know who the applicants were/are, I have not ever disclosed that info. Dave and Jim have seen some because I like to prove I'm right to those around me sometimes, but even they don't see them all. Second, how do you know or don't know what I do to evaluate divers skills. Here let me give you a clue, most of the guys who really can do the dives are well known, it is a small circle of divers that do it and just having completed a class doesn't cut it. No one gets on my trips unless I know you or someone I know puts their NECK out for you. I am not talking about all VBtech trips, I am talking about the trips that I put together. These are usually extreme in depth (beyond 300ft) or some other risk like the inside of the "Marine Electric" or the Doria trips. Dave handles most of the other trips. That may be expanded next year so some of the other guys can feel the stress of handling the trips. Sure I would like to see everyone dive a shallow wreck first, but that's not always possible.
