Trey, I would think you are doing the correct thing with some guys. I would
also think JJ is the one who also gets the training out. We both know that
there are those with visions of becoming part of some great dive team and
being part of a memorable dive exploration, but not everyone is suited for
the deep stuff or the stupid extreme stuff. The measure of experience is
often held in the words "I don't want to do that or it is beyond my abilities".
I have had the pleasure of diving with a many number of people, JJ and you
included. I also have dived with many divers who have had training with
GUE, Tom Sawicki is a prime example of the training at the best. Others
with the same training I hate to see come to the boat, that is because they
still do not get it and never will no matter who trains them.

The drive to the boat for many is the risk , not the dive. We lost Don
Mason to a car wreck while he was driving to a dive boat, many others have
had a close call on the road.

I often tell things that happen on my dives and there are those who try to
use that against me because they have nothing else to use. I survive those
dives because it is ME, I pass on any useful info that comes from the dive.
That is experience, something that takes time.
