... however I saved to do the
course hence it would assume it is comittment more than money..

If you are committed to do something you will nearly always find a way..

Tom,

You're quite right. While I was buying my 3,000 quids worth of kit, my
commitment was totally on diving.

I am frustrated now, because my committment is just as strong, but I
got married, bought a house, and now have a son.

What I really object to is paying for courses where, as far as I can make out
from those who have done them, I could learn the bulk of the stuff on my own.

It would be much more honest of IANTD etc to have entrance exams
and assessment dives to allow entry into the higher courses. This would
save people like me 100s of pounds. This would obviously put Tech schools
out of business, so we'll never see it.

To "find a way" without loads of dosh, means DIY, homebrewing and all the
other methods the agencies are quite rightly trying to squash.

I would rather possess certificates achieved by knowledge and experience,
and not also the thickness of your wallet.

Regards,

Bill Dyer
