Wendell, << Fine, but bear in mind that alot of us consider those conditions as tropical vacation, not "extreme conditions" >> I wouldn't consider it extreme for some divers, but for me, to to tech, it is. Again, not recreational > I will not dive in dry suit, so I dive in a 3/2mil, and will dive quite well > all winter down here in that. << So?>> Hey, wait a minute, it got pretty darn cold down here this winter:) Especially for this Indiana girl! I moved to south Florida because I can't deal with cold environments. > > My choices are not subject to ridicule from anyone who is a true man. Only folks with ego problems will ridicule those that they have problems with. Cut me some slack. Don't pull the "testosterone" BS.>> But that's how it comes across sometimes. That statement could also mean true women! I have known a few women who had little tit disease....god knows I wish I did! Grin....I'll have to share about the big ass bandaid and the trigger fish, and my right boob sometime. > > I will do recreational dives in any type of temps or currents. Just not tech > dives. I choose to live to be a ripe old age, and know that those types of > dives are too much task loading for what I choose to do. Fine, this list is called "techdiver">> But keep in mind, I do do the tech dives. I just pick and choose when and where I do them. <<In all these things, I applaud you without hesitation. Very few people understand the major will and effort that all this requires. Keep doing it!! Just remember, we should all push ourselves to accomplish more than we think is possible. If we are in a condition that walking to the end of the hallway unassisted is a personal best, then for us, that is our "Mount Everest", or "Andrea Doria". Having reached for the best and grasped it, we are still in no position to lord it over others, no matter how relatively meager their accomplishments. Wendell >> Thanks, there were alot of folks that thought I would never learn to swim, that I could never learn to dive, that I could not do the technical stuff. I am especially proud of myself that I have. And I will keep doing it! Hopefully, I will continue to do this until I the day I die. It is that important to me. But my philosophy is: There will always be another day to dive. You may not have another day to die. It is not a shame to walk away from, or to call a dive. And I sometimes think that is why we see the fatalities that we do within this industry. Because people, men and women, let their egos get in the way. I still hold to the belief that no one person knows all there is to know about diving. And the day you think that you do, is the day you should hang it up. Contrary to what George thinks, I don't ever say that I know it all. If you will notice, I concluded the original post, with "my opinions" or something to that effect. My instructor does not advocate deep air. Never has. never will. However, Hal Watts and others have been diving on air for years, and years and years, and have lived to tell about it. Is it best to dive air? I don't think so. But then I personally do not choose to dive helium shallower than 140ft. That is my choice. Just as it's George's choice to dive an END of 60ft. More power to him. However, he will more than likely dive in harsher conditions than I am willing to. So. There's that. You tell me not to judge others, but he has spent lots of energy judging me. Pots and kettles calling each other black, comes to mind here. I don't personally care what George does, as long as it doesn't endanger my life, should we ever be diving off the same boat together. I also will note: Gang, it's not the organizations that are bad---that's like calling all guns bad. It's the individuals that make up the organization, or the instructors that teach. Judge instructors on their individual merits, not the scum instructors that are out there. Just some opinions, Karla Clinch Dog Training By Karla Ft.
