Aldo, I cannot refer to the reverse flow part of your question, but want to mention here only that atmospheric pressure changes can have quite an impact on currents, depending on the shape of the sea you look at. FI, the Baltic Sea responds to A.P.C. like a barometer, if a high pressure zone is in its center, the water is pushed out through the danish belt. Another cause of current can be anything which pushes the water in a hydrologic system that can act by its geomorphic structure similar to a bath tub, with a unique resonant mode more or less dampened. This again applies to the Baltic, seemingly out of nowhere you can have a strong current, when the "wave" sweeps back because a formerly strong wind has ceased, allowing the heap of water flow back from "Estonia". regards Matthias "Aldo P.
