It is a sinkhole plain. It is where the limestone had flattened out from
being transported away by the underground flow and dissolution. The best
example outside of the WKP is the one around Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. There
you can see the hills literally melting into the plain, and the caves run
from the hills out under the plain.
