a metal plug is required for road safety regulations here.
Of course you can mounta regulator, or completely mount the rig. In this
case the regulations do not apply. I stopped thinking this is all
strange long ago.
Yes , I have seen a DIN/ yoke conversion plug bullet away in a diveshop,
left a neat hole in the bricks.
However, some use these DIN plugs to plug unused reg mounts, to  guard
against water.
Since lately, there are O-ring sealed plugs from Poseidon, with a
spring-loaded teflon valve by which the pressure is released. You screw
them on, open bottle to pressurize, then turn off.
To release, there is a 4 mm allen head .
gas escapes via a small hole at the beginning of the threads, much like
in a DIN valves. 
These plugs are the only ones I recommend.
