Thom,

You need to master nitrox diving and associated concepts before you move 
to helium.

Then you need to find out about welding suppliers.

Its not a quantum leap from nitrox to trimix once you understand partial 
pressure filling and oxygen toxicity but you do need to figure these 
things out first. i started homebrewing and diving mix before i took a 
class just for laughs;ive been doing it for about a year now. I thought 
and read about mix for a good long while till i felt like wtf im just 
going to do it, and then i did.. you can figure it out if you want to, 
but dont expect people to hold you hand  or to say its "ok".

In other words if this scares you , or you feel you 'need' permission, 
maybe you are not ready just yet. and thats ok.

PS this sounds alot like the USS Algol  off NJ, also a nice dive.
