Dear senior divers, The chemistry dept. at this university has received a request to analyze the contents of some torches (brand name is "SnapLight"). These torches are used by divers and thrown in-water after use. Thousands of these torches are showing up around Lanzarote's shores and this might be a dangerous waste. I would thank, anyone of you, either informing me on any composition analyses done on these torches by any group. We have atomic absortion chromatographic analyzers here, however, we dont have the slightest ideas on the chemical compisition of these torches (there are at least 2 solutions which may contain H2O2 to allow phosphoresence). However, the chemists dont know what to search for which would make the analyses lengthy and extremely expensive. If there is anyone who could point me to some info on these torches, it would be mostly appreciated.
