I have seen PADI in Sweden, Israel and Spain and it is the very same garbage, everywhere: (a) highly stressed people who would do anything to cash in one more dollar; their stress makes them do stupid things which affect the physical integrity of the students; (b) forget the most basic safety rules; (c) forget divers in the reefs; (d) use faulty equipment, etc. PADI appears to be an industry organization for american Homer Simpsons ... who want to be divers for 99.99 USDollars and get a diploma to show to beer colleagues in the pub. IMO, universities and research centra should contact authorities to control the quality of those for profit diving corporations, impose a program (like in any other school) and hit without any mercy where abuses are detected. cheers, aldo.solari@ho*.se* www.ccbb.ulpgc.es/fish-ecology/solaris ___ -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
