Can't address the fresh vs salt issue, but within the past 2 weeks I've been in bottom temps down to 36 deg give or take a degree with a MK20, and a buddy with a MK20 UL (the alum POS) The MK20 AL free flowed on one of the dives. My buddy thinks it was due to his playing with the tuning knob on the second stage and initialing a free flow that then froze the second open (due to the pressure induced temp drop in the first). On a subsequent dive I tried this on my brass MK20 with no effect. I think the AL version does not hold the heat as well being that AL is a better conductor of heat than is brass. If this is the case I would think the lightweight AL first stages would not be suitable for cold water. Any thoughts on this? Bill --- Wendell Grogan <wgrogan@dc*.ne*> wrote: > OK, new subject.
