I think the consensus is in on this subject (as it was for years in the
archives). Years ago I didn't believe the archives and bought a =
Cochran
Commander Nitrox (right when they came out). It actually worked for a =
few
dives. After about =BD a season it started calculating funny =
repetitive dive
profiles where had I hung the required amount I would have needed a "K"
bottle strapped to me as a stage bottle. Since then I think I've sent =
it
back every season for one reason or another. =20

I have not had any problems with their customer service, I've always =
dealt
over email and they always gave me an RMA where I got either a new unit =
or
my old one back in about a month or so. Can't complain about the =
repair
service as they have never charged me and luckily the problems with the =
unit
never effected the bottom time, only deco time. Now I use it as a =
bottom
timer. The depth and bottom time read-out work great (not that I don't
carry a backup timer anyway). So far the unit's worked great this year =
in
bottom time mode so maybe this will be the first season I don't have to =
send
it back! If they ever charged me for a repair I'd just run out and buy
another bottom timer.

Art.

I am saying it "The Cochran Nemesis is the worst dive
computer ever made".=20

Beyond the worst piece of shit ever made, I would not use one as a
paper weight. I had one years ago and after it sixth repair I bitched =
at
the company so hard they refunded my money, not the store I purchased =
it at.
The secret was to tell them that working in a dive shop and as an =
instructor
I had access to hundreds of divers and would tell everyone I ever came
across how terrible their products were: I also used some profound
descriptors while talking to the service manager about the company, =
their
service, and their products. They refunded my money to keep me quiet, =
I
bought a bottom timer and still speak vehemently against them. Might =
not
work for you guys, but it worked for me.
