Gary,

JJ did indeed do a fine job discussing DIR, GUE and exploratory
diving during both his appearences in the AOL Scuba Forum Chat room. For
people who have AOL accounts but missed those appearences, the logs from both
presentations are available for downloading in the AOL Scuba Forum Library
area. That doesn't necessarily make this a dead topic, however.

Jerry, who is the Scuba Forum's message board area manager, suggested
Mike as a guest for our regularly scheduled Thursday night feature, "Tech
Nite." Generally we welcome the opportunity to have new presenters for this
program. The Chat area manager, Joel Silverstein, and myself, the Forum
Leader, do not usually actively pursue guest presenters during the summer
months. The attendence and activity in the forum tends to be slow due to so
many people being busy with diving, vacations, and such. By the same token,
since Mike offered we were not inclined to turn him down either.

Mike will be discussing a variety of topics, including DIR for
recreational diving, and other subjects dependent upon the questions
generated by attendees. As a West Coast diver he will like also discuss the
state of advanced diving in that area and possibly share some of his
experiences and perceptions of East Coast wreck diving based on his trips to
this side of the country.

As for other's particpating as guest "speakers," we're always willing to
consider such offers. If the individual has something of interest to offer
to our subscribers or is a recognizable figure in the industry we're
certainly open to the idea. However, contrary to what some might hope, there
is no budget for paying guests to make appearences. Such appearences are
strictly voluntary.

Anyone without an AOL account should have no trouble joining in tonight's
discussion if they'd truely like to. There are plenty of resources offering
free trials to AOL. Simply set-up a trial account, log on to AOL, click on
keyword, enter the world scuba and follow the links. Just be sure to cancel
the free trial in the alotted time to avoid the standard fees.
