Subject:Cylinder Regulations Sent on: 24/2/95 8:23 am With the current discussion on cylinder painting going on, this seems to have arrived at the right moment. Apologies for the cross posting as I know many of us subscribe to both lists - But I was hoping to get this to many of our European Friends who seem to only subscribe to Techdiver as well as getting to as many of the UK divers. Whilst reading Diver this month I saw the following article :- Quote (direct copy from article) ---- Article "The look for '95 page 10" ....... some stuff deleted I am informed that the EEC is at present reviewing the situation and a "new mandatory situation will be in operation when the process is complete". This will probably mean that the black and white quartering on the shoulder will, later this year, become compulsory, but the main body can be any colour you like. But beware when carrying full dive tanks on the Continent (they have jumped the gun about new EEC regulations). You could be in for a big fine if you don't display the international sign to show that a compressed gas cylinder is aboard. This sign is 100mm green diamond with a black cylinder on it. Your cylinders should carry a smaller version of this sticker. And your tanks must be securely, preferably in a box, and have a substantial valve cover attached so that the valve cannot be turned on by accident. End quote ----- has any one else out their heard about this, could our European friends out their comment on whether this is true. What do they mean by valve covers ?? etc etc G Mail Address : graeme_davison@ne*.co* British Sub Aqua Club : 1958 Under Pressure BSAC : Advanced Diver IANTD : Advanced Nitrox NSS-CD : Cavern / Intro Cave Dive Safe - Dive Nitrox !
