Subject:Re argon cylinders Sent on: 16/3/95 9:16 am Some one wrote (sorry I deleted the mail before cutting and pasting) - ********** If you haven't gotten a bottle yet, don't go any bigger than 13 cu ft or so. That size holds enough gas for 8 dives to 100+ fsw. Anything bigger is just bulk and weight. ********** Here in Europe we don't work in Cubic feet but work in water capacities and pressure(ie how much fluid the cylinder could take (defined as Water capacity) and therfore what is its exact volume) - what this allows us to do is to simply look at a contents gauge (in bars) and calculate real easy how many cubic liters of gas we have at any point in the dive - In addition the US system means that a 13 cu ft cylinder is 13 cu ft of gas at its working pressure and that as different cylinders have different working pressure its a pain for us Euro's trying to convert to figures we can realate to - to get round this I wrote a article for my clubs newsletter which detailed all cylinder cubic feet, working pressure figures etc etc for the standard US cylinders which allowed us to relate US cylinders to a water capacity - I did not go down to ponies as I had no details on the working pressures - therfore could someone provide the working pressures of these size cylinders and I can update my article Mail Address : graeme_davison@ne*.co* British Sub Aqua Club : 1958 Under Pressure BSAC : Advanced Diver IANTD : Advanced Nitrox NSS-CD : Cavern / Intro Cave Dive Safe - Dive Nitrox !
