I dive with a Viking Pro, and don't find it excessively thick. I have about a dozen patches in it from two years of wreck diving, but friends with the Sport suit have a lot more (or else have switched to DUI). I would not get a Sport for wreck diving, although it is probably fine for generic recreational or cave diving. I personally am right on the line about the relative merits of the Pro vs., say, a DUI CF200. The Pro is easier to puncture, which is a big bummer when you are inside a wreck and have to 1) exit and 2) do a long hang (this happened to me on the San Diego earlier this year, and I was glad I had O2 so that I could shave the stops a little). On the other hand, it is also easier to fix, and you can usually fix it yourself or have a local repair shop do it. I have a couple friends who have lost weeks or months of the diving season having CF200 seams fixed or zippers replaced. I bought the Pro because it was a little cheaper than the CF200, and I once had a bad experience with the old DUI valves (they have since been improved). The CF200 is now available, at least locally, for a bit less than the Pro, so if I had to do it over again I might get the DUI. John jheimann@sc*.gt*.co*
