Subject: RE: Replacement batteries for Extreme Exposure lights
I recently replaced the batteries in my EE Explorer Pro 24. I have a
Panasonic catalog but could not find the same batteries (12 V 12 Ah),
so went looking elsewhere. I found some from GS Batteries (OEM?),
labelled "Portalac", same physical size as the Yuasa NP12-12's that EE
supplied, but after burn testing them, I found they lasted slightly
longer on the 50 W bulb. 100 W bulb burn time was roughly equivalent
to the Yuasa. Incidentally, the guy at GS Batteries told me that the
quality of the Yuasa's varied considerably with the plant of
manufacture. Japan was the best, Taiwan is okay, but don't even bother
with batteries from the Korean plant. Can anyone verify this?

I use Panasonic batteries for many other applications, and have had no
complaints.
