Don,

# of dives... this is even greater bullshit... You guys are constantly bashing
people with thousands of dives - the leaders of IANTD, TDI and everything else.
It's either DIR or bullshit from what I've seen on this list.  It's obvious
that the number of dives doesn't really matter. 2000 dives looking for lobster
in 30 feet of water with gear that gives George nightmares is going to improve
what?  

You're either ready to teach or you aren't... you're not going to find some
stupid formula to figure this out. There's never going to be an agency that
nails it every time.  Wait until GUE turns out enough instructors to teach
everyone on the planet that wants to learn to dive (because that's really what
you guys are bitching about)... you'll get some really bad apples at that point.

What are the requirements for teaching for GUE?  I'll bet it's not simply
logging a bunch of dives.
