Subject: RE: Questions on vulcanized rubber and trilaminate drysuits.
Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2000 13:16:57 -0800
Hi Mike,
I have a Pro-Am 1050 and, although I like some things about this suit, I
would not buy another.
The main problem that I have with this suit is that it really hangs up
against the harness, making in more difficult to get in and out of your gear
quickly. People with trilams don't seem to have nearly the problem that I
do. This alone makes me want to swap this suit for a different one.
I've also been a little disappointed with the way that the suit has worn.
At this point (4 years, about 700 dives), there is almost more patching than
there is remaining suit. The crotch strap and shoulder straps seem to have
really abraded the rubber in a number of places. I've also managed to slice
the material in a few places - couldn't tell you exactly how.
Pluses are - very easy to patch. 30 minutes and you can dive it again.
Dries very quickly. Pretty comfortable. Stretches a little so doesn't need
to be quite as baggy as a trilam does. Boots and seams are bulletproof. No
problems there.
