Hyperoxic myopia is a transient problem in subjects / patients exposed to
long PO2 runs. HBO treatment to promote revascularization of hypoxic
tissues is known to cause hyperoxic myopia. Some patients are thrilled
since they may suddenly see well without glasses. However, it always
returns to normal (or baseline) within a few weeks. It's well known
phenomenologically but I don't think anyone knows the mechanism. Check:
Eric P. Kindwall MD (1994), Hyperbaric Medicine Practice, Best Publishing
Company.

Hans
