# I've since heard that the configuration actually being used was a # bottom of the line Scubapro second stage (I don't recall the model number, # but it is one usually used as an octopus, and it had the spring setup for # an octopus reg - harder to breathe off, less chance of free flow) on a # Sherwood first stage (again, I don't know the model). # Such an unmatched reg setup with an inappropriately tuned second stage # may have contributed to the accident. I can't find fault between a Sherwood and a ScubaPro, given the first stage Sherwood was set to the working intermediate pressure required by the second stage ScubaPro. Afterall, the second stage only knows the first stage by way of the air pressure & flow/volume from a connecting hose. There is no mechanical connection. Poseidon first stages with their higher intermediate pressure sometimes play havoc with some inflater hoses if an Air2 type alternate is also attached -Joseph Crunk joseph@sm*.co*
