# Never used a separate bottle, but I am thinking about a bottle of Argon
# for this seasons winter diving in Stoney Cove ... (A UK inland
# freshwater ex-quarry for those who don't know it) I guess that a 2
# litre lightweight steel, 232 bar pony bottle would be about right? The
# only problem is that of getting it filled!

DUI of San Diego sells a small bottle with a reduction first stage valve
specially designed for dry suits. I believe the retail cost in the US is
about $400...way too much.

On the other side, Luxfer has an 8 cf pony. Figure the cost at about $110,
retail. First stage can be had for even less. This is an aluminum bottle.

I had given some thought to the use of argon, but the dry suit itself
is good enough (where I've been diving) without the `exotic' gas.

DUI's catalog makes mention of argon being absorbed thru the skin while
using it in a dry suit. This gas uptake is not accounted for with any dive
tables. Therefore, they do not recommend using another gas in any pony
dedicated to the dry suit.

Anyone have any more information or experience on the idea of argon
uptake? Is it really an issue, or would the amount be so minimal that it
wouldn't matter?
