Tom, 

Its just too easy to leave them on, the only time i take them off is NEVER
on the Wahoo -- no need to --- But on boats with crap ladders that cant
accomodate them I will take them off -- but then i rarely will charter a
boat with a crap ladder-- Iwill take them off when i go sailing and diving
with my wife in the BVI -- those boats dont have dive ladders at all.
