Subject: Re: Who controls deco?
Jarrod and I stay together and face each other until we get support to
sit with us at the shallow levels. If there is no support, we do the
same deco. If there is support, I abbreviate the intermediate steps
since when I am diving other than the second day in a row, it is likely
that I have not been diving for a week or more by JJ has been, so needs
to do more time. We then end up doing the oxygen together.

While I need very little deco, I also do not get cold so it makes no
difference to me how long I am in the water. The more important thing is
that the riskiest part of our dives are in fact the deco, and that is
where I need to pay the most attention to my buddy. If I am in a three
man team, I go ahead and get out but stay suited up in case of a
problem.

On the other hand, this should be discussed prior to diving, and in fact
I will not dive with a deco weenie or anyone who needs more deco than is
realistic.

To put it in perspective, JJ and I did 150 minutes at 285 to finish of A
Tunnel in Wakulla earlier this summer, and he did 20 more minutes than I
did , but he had been diving all week. I had not been diving for two
weeks.
