JR - I agree with you completely. The problem is that even when a guy
like Motes who knows what he is doing reports, he just can't make
himself face the facts that the CF happened before the dive, and that
what he witnessed was merely the denoument.

You will never see anything meaningful out of the cave community on an
accident.

The truth is that cave diving is risky, and would be a lot less so if
the 500 or more "instructors" out there spent a litle time taking people
diving.

We do. We take our guys diving all of the time to work on methods and
get experience. In fact, we also run drills all of the time. Chris
Werner only allows diving at some of our sites if 1) a dive plan is
submitted, 2) some drills are performed, and 3) a report is then given
about the dive, and these guys are pros, not amateurs. Scott Landon and
Casey McKinlay also spend a lot of time with these guys.
